Could be the least expensive compact sedan when launched.
Autocar India reports that the next bodystyle in the CMF-A portfolio is a compact sedan from Renault. If it's going to be anything like the Renault Kwid, it could be the least expensive compact sedan when launched.
At the unveil of the Renault Kwid, Carlos Ghosn did mention that the CMF-A platform will underpin a wide variety of products from both Renault and Nissan. Given that there is a steady demand for sub-4m compact sedans, with manufacturers like Volkswagen entering the segment for the first time with the VW Ameo, it should come as no surprise that Renault wants a slice of that pie.
The report states that a proposal is already in the works and design centres in India are hard at work on delivering an interesting design. At the moment, technical details on the Renault sub-4m sedan are scarce as it's in its initial stages of development.
Against its rivals such as the Maruti Swift Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire, VW Ameo, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and the Tata Kite 5, the Renault sub-4m sedan is likely to bank on attractive pricing, feature list and a fuel efficient petrol lineup to lure car buyers; similar to the Renault Kwid's success formula.
