Chery had another concept car named Chery Beta 5 that was unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2013 show. It’s based on the same platform as the Chery Tiggo 5 SUV and expected to be rolled off from the production line in 2015. It is underpinned by the iAuto core technology platform.
The production version of the Chery Beta 5 will be positioned above the new Chery Tiggo 5 that has debuted at the Shanghai show as well. The concept SUV model gets an updated front fascia emphasized by the striking LED infused headlights, downward facing bumper and sleeker grille with plastic body cladding and enormous alloy wheels.
The first SUV under Chery's new brand image features a CLOUDRIVE (intelligent cloud entertainment system) technology. It uses advanced technologies such as exhaust turbocharging inter-cooling, TDGI, dual VVT and has a power output of over 137hp and torque of not less than 182Nm.
The other features are keyless entry, push-button start and a 3G connected infotainment system. The SUV’s dimensions are 4505mm in length, 1840mm in width, 1741mm in height and it has a 2610mm wheelbase.
Chery's latest third-generation ACTECO engine powers this vehicle with a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine, which produces a power output of 130hp, or by a 1.6 litre supercharged unit, which develops power of 150hp mated to a CVT transmission.
