Mercedes-Benz has launched an updated E-Class LWB with two BS-VI engines and a few new features in India. The company has priced the new model from INR 57.5 lakh*. Its local website and brochure are yet to reflect the latest changes.
Mercedes-Benz is offering two BS-VI engines in the E-Class LWB. One is the M 264 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 197 PS (+13 PS) and 300 Nm of torque. This engine, employed in the E 200 engine model, allows the long-wheelbase executive saloon to sprint from nought to 100 km/h in 8 seconds.
The other BS-VI engine is the OM 654 2.0-litre diesel unit that develops 194 hp and 400 Nm of torque. With this engine, a 0-100 km/h speed run takes 7.3 seconds. It is available in the E 220 d engine model. Both the BS-VI engines are paired with the 9G TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission as standard. The E 350 d hasn’t got a BS-VI compliant engine yet. Sometime later this year, or along with the facelift in 2020, it will likely get the OM 656 3.0-litre diesel engine in the 286 PS/600 Nm version in our market.
The BS-VI Mercedes E-Class LWB is available in two equipment lines, namely Expression and Exclusive. The Exclusive grade has a dual display setup (12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch central display) in the front, which was unavailable in the Indian-spec saloon until now. The MY2019 update has brought fresh interior appointments, a rear wireless charger and a touchscreen in the rear-centre armrest also to the BMW 5 Series rival.
