Will be launched in Chinese market next month.
Beijing Auto (BAIC) showcased the Senova X55 at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show held in April. The car is expected to be launched in the Chinese market in January 2016.
The X55 will be positioned between the X35 and X65 in the BAIC lineup. The crossover has a sporty and modern look with wraparound headlights at the front and a chrome-outlined grille. The sides have prominent wheel arches and upswept character lines that add a touch of style along with the dark plastic lower-body cladding. The rear is equally appealing and features a tailgate spoiler, elongated tail lights connected by a chrome strip and twin tail pipes.
The Senova X55 measures 4,405 mm, 1,810 mm and 1,685 mm in length, width and height respectively.
The interior has a sporty theme, which is in keeping with the exterior. The cabin gets sports seats with contrast stitching, a two-pod instrument cluster, aluminum accents on the steering wheel, center console and dashboard. An elegant feel is created in the cabin by the small analogue clock placed centrally between the AC vents, just above the touchscreen for the infotainment system.
Two 1.5-liter four cylinder petrol engines will be powering the X55. The first unit is capable of 113 hp paired only to a 5-speed manual transmission, and the second is the turbocharged version of the same engine pushing out 150 hp. This unit though can be married to either a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox.
