Audi is planning a special edition of the Q3 for showrooms within a few days. Dubbed Audi Q3 Design Edition, the model gets cosmetic enhancements that help distinguish it from the regular 2017 Audi Q3.
The Design Edition differs with the body colour finish for the cladding on the front and rear bumpers and wheel arches. Other cosmetic enhancements include quattro decals at the bottom of the rear doors and clear lens tail lamps. It also gets Audi logo Projection carpet lamps. The Audi Q3 Design Edition is quite similar to the Q3 Dynamic Edition launched in October 2016. The cast aluminium 5-arm turbine design contrasting grey 18-inch alloys are same as the Q3 35 TDI Technology variant.
Interior changes, if any, are unknown as of now. Likely to be based on the Audi Q3 35 TDI quattro Technology, the Design Edition will come with features like MMI Navigation System, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, LED headlights and taillights, electrically adjustable seats, dual zone climate control, and more.
The model pictured is the Audi Q3 35 TDI which uses a 2.0 L diesel engine. As performance upgrades are unlikely, expect it to output 135 kW and 380 Nm. There's a 7-speed S tronic transmission on offer sending power to all four wheels via Audi's quattro AWD system. Since the petrol variant is a strictly front-wheel drive, the Desing Edition will be a diesel-only model.
The Audi Q3 Design Edition was announced at the launch of the Audi Q5 petrol today in Ahmedabad. Along with the Q3, the Q7 will be acquiring a Design Edition as well. In August last year, the Audi A6 Design Edition and Audi Q7 Design Edition were launched. The upcoming Q7 Design Edition is likely to be similar to them, if not the same.
