Audi India plans next level of investments for increased localization.
After having launched its entry-level offering in a sedan body shape, Audi India is considering the hatchback (Sportback) version of the A3. Speaking to the Financial Express, Audi India's CEO, Joe King, said that the company is indeed considering the A3 hatch, but he ruled out the A1 as it was too small for our market.
Commenting on the recent introduction of the A3 Sedan, Mr. King said that over 1,000 units of the car were sold within 3 months of its launch. Going forth, 2015 will see the German carmaker launch 10 new models/refreshes. These would include the new TT, new Q7, refreshed A6, S6, A7, RS 7 and Q3, according to our sources.
Audi is planning major investments in India that will help in localization, especially of engines, says the report. Mr. King said that Audi is planning the next level of investments "towards manufacturing and localization".
