Jan Bus models make up most of the orders.
Ashok Leyland has received orders for around 4,000 buses under the JNNURM-II scheme, the company said via a press release. The 4,000 buses is a combined figure from the order books of 22 State Transport Units (STUs) and the full order is worth INR 1,500 crore.

The orders will be, the company said, furnished via a mix of the JanBus and other products from Ashok Leyland's portfolio. Some portion of the order has already been supplied and the others are in various stages of production.
Another product Ashok Leyland will supply under this order is the JanBus Midi, a bus with a uniform floor height of 650 mm. This is designed for intra-city feeder bus services and are well suited, the company says, for the central government's Smart City program.
Ashok Leyland's sales in August rose after a prolonged downturn. The company sold more M&HCV units and LCV units, recording total sales of 8,331 units, a growth of 17 percent.
