Suzuki Motorcycle India has had a successful festive season. The Indian subsidiary of two-wheeler manufacturer, Suzuki Motor Corporation, has registered highest ever retail volumes for its dealer network. October also marked another month of sustained growth despite the slowdown in the two-wheeler industry. Suzuki Motorcycle India recorded 66,215 unit sales in October 2019 as compared to 61,768 units in the corresponding month last year.

The overall (Domestic + Exports) year-on-year sales grew by 13.61%. The company clocked 74,610 unit sales in October 2019 as against 65,673 units in October last year. Cumulatively, Suzuki Motorcycle India recorded 4,94,286 unit sales between April – October 2019.

The promising sales performance could be associated with an increase in scooter sales. In August this year, Suzuki Motorcycle India replaced Hero MotoCorp as the third-highest scooter seller in our market. Do note that Suzuki Motorcycle India’s scooter portfolio comprises just two scooters – Access 125 and Burgman Street. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India continue to lead the scooter segment, while TVS Motor Company holds the second spot in the list.

The launch of the new products such as Gixxer 155 range, the Gixxer 250 series and the special MotoGP edition could also be another factor behind the sales performance.

The company is expected to expand its product portfolio with the launch of the new Intruder 155 and the Intruder 250. The updated and new variants of the Intruder range are expected to be unveiled in early 2020. The upcoming Intruder 155 and the Intruder 250 will share their mechanical specifications with the Gixxer 155 and the Gixxer 250 respectively. The new range will arrive with a BS-VI compliant motor. Suzuki Motorcycle India will export the Gixxer SF 250 and the Gixxer 250 to the Japanese market. This should aid in further improving the export sales performance for the two-wheeler brand.

In the short term, the Japanese brand will unveil its 2020 line-up at the upcoming EICMA motorcycle show (5-10 November). The company has already teased its new product, the 2020 V-Strom 1100, revealing the styling details such as the front fascia of the motorcycle. The litre-class adventure tourer should reach the Indian market in 2020.
