Following the SP2i SUV, Kia will launch the Carnival minivan in India, as per a report from Overdrive. The company will assemble it from imported knocked-down kits at the Anantapur plant, as seen in the image below.
Media reports last year had speculated the Carnival's arrival, and so, it was expected as the second Kia model in India. The minivan is made in 7-, 8- and 11-seat versions. The three-row, 7-seat version is destined for Indian showrooms.
The Indian-spec Kia Carnival measures 5,155 mm in length, 1,985 mm in width and 1,740 mm in height. It has a 3,060 mm wheelbase. Under the hood, there’s the R 2.2 E-VGT diesel engine that produces 202 PS at 3,800 rpm and 45 kg.m (441 Nm) of torque at 1,750-2,750 rpm. An 8-speed automatic transmission will send drive to the front wheels.
Kia will likely offer the Carnival in India with features like LED headlights, LED fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED rear combination lamps, power sliding doors, dual sunroof, ventilated (first-row) and heated (second-row) seats, three-zone automatic climate control and 8-speaker Infinity sound system.

The Kia Carnival will likely cost upwards of INR 22 lakh and could make sense to customers looking for an MPV bigger and more sophisticated than the Toyota Innova Crysta. The third Kia model for India, a sub-4 metre B-SUV underpinned by the Hyundai Styx’s platform, will break cover at Auto Expo 2020. The brand's range of imported models will likely include the Ceed C-segment hatchback as well, also assembled from knocked-down kits at the new plant in Andhra Pradesh.
