The 2019 Superb (facelift) will be the first-ever Skoda to be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

While Skoda has released only a sketch of the new Superb's design, spy shots and spy videos have already revealed the exterior changes. At the front, the new model has full-LED headlights instead of bi-Xenon headlights, a revised radiator grille, new lower air intake and sleeker fog lights. The rear-end has been refreshed with revised tail lights, a full-width chrome strip and wide-spaced, Skoda lettering instead of the brand logo. One more visual difference between the old and new models is that the latter features dynamic turn signals at the rear.

Inside, the new 2019 Skoda Superb (facelift) is likely to have elements borrowed from the Skoda Scala and the latest facelifted VW Passat. These may include new infotainment system options (with a screen size ranging from 6.5 inches up to 9.2 inches) from the third generation of the Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB3) and an 11.7-inch virtual instrument cluster.

The 2019 Superb will be the first-ever Skoda to be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. As per earlier reports, the plug-in hybrid powertrain will make use of a 154 PS 1.4L TSI turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor delivering 85 kW (115 PS) of maximum power. The combined output of the hybrid powertrain will be 215 PS. A 13 kWh battery will serve the electric motor and offer a zero-emission driving range of around 70 km. The Indian-spec car will likely come with the same engines as those of the pre-facelift model (1.8L TSI and 2.0 TDI), but with an upgrade to comply with the BS-VI emission norms.
