The Skoda Kodiaq Scout that was revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show has been confirmed for India, reports CarDekho. It will be launched in the country in the fourth quarter of the year (October-December).
The Skoda Kodiaq Scout looks a little more rugged and is slightly more capable when it comes to off-roading compared to the regular model. It has a higher ground clearance of 194 mm (regular model: 187 mm). It comes equipped with the Rough-Road package as standard, for protection against damage to the underbody, engine and gearbox, brake and fuel lines as well as cables. The off-road-oriented variant has a ramp angle of 19.7 degrees, and its approach and departure angles are 22.0 and 23.1 degrees respectively.
Like the underbody protection, which is visually split into three parts, the roof rails, ORVM housings and side window trims of the Skoda Kodiaq Scout are silver in colour. The tinted rear window and rear side windows and the 19-inch alloy wheels in an anthracite colour further distinguish the Scout variant. Then, of course, there are a few badges with the model designation, located on the front windows and the glove compartment.
The Skoda Kodiaq Scout is available with 150 PS 1.4L TSI petrol, 180 PS 2.0L TSI petrol, 150 PS 2.0L TDI diesel and 190 PS 2.0L TDI diesel engines internationally. 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG are the transmission choices. Naturally, an all-wheel drive system is standard. In India, Skoda could offer the Kodiaq Scout with a 2.0L TDI diesel engine and the 7-speed DSG transmission. In 2020, the company will introduce a petrol engine option for the regular model.
