The 2019 SEAT Tarraco was showcased at the Paris Motor Show this month. The large SUV has been named after the Mediterranean city of Tarragona. It is the first seven-seat model in the Barcelona-based manufacturer's SUV range and will go on sale in early 2019.
Speaking on the 2019 SEAT Tarraco, Luca de Meo, President of SEAT, said:
SEAT is experiencing its biggest product offensive in recent times. The introduction of the SEAT Tarraco, our very first large SUV, forms part of our €3.3 billion investment between 2015 and 2019 in the company's future and the range of vehicles we offer. It completes our family of SUVs, to suit every customer's need.
The new model is meant to provide the design direction of new SEAT models. It features several sharp design elements, which makes it look more athletic than its VAG counterparts, namely the Skoda Kodiaq and the VW Tiguan. The Tarraco will pave the way for more exciting designs that will influence the aesthetics of many new models, including the next-generation Leon.
The 2019 SEAT Tarraco will be available in two interior layouts - 5 seats and 7 seats. Only two trims will be on offer: Style and Xcellence. The new model will go on sale with two petrol and two diesel engine options. The smallest of the lot will be a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol motor that will output 150 hp of maximum power. Next in line with bee a 2.0-litre gasoline unit that will output 190 hp. The diesel variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre that will be available in two states of tune - 150 hp and 190 hp. The large SUV will be available in both front- and all-wheel-drive configurations. That said, the latter is likely to be restricted to the more powerful engine variants. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual and a seven-speed DSG.

The 2019 SEAT Tarraco will be positioned above the Ateca, the company's new midsize crossover. The new flagship has been jointly designed and developed at the manufacturer's facilities in Martorell, Barcelona and Wolfsburg.
