A video of the 2019 Maruti Wagon R has surfaced on Youtube, thereby giving us a good look at the VXi variant of the new model. The third generation of the hot-selling tallboy (average monthly sale between July-December 2018 - 10.959 units) will go on sale on January 23.

As has been the norm with the latest products from Maruti Suzuki, the latest-gen Wagon R doesn't sport a variant badge on the boot lid. That said, a careful observation, reveals that the spied unit belongs to the VXi grade. The mid-tier model offers -
- 14-inch steel wheels with wheel covers
- Body-coloured ORVMs and door handles
- Blacked-out B-pillars (only in 1.2-litre engine variant)
- Power adjustable ORVMs
- Keyless entry
- Front and rear power windows
- Day/night IRVM
- 60:40 split folding rear seats
- Audio system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity
- Tilt adjustable multi-function steering wheel
- Steering-mounted controls (only in 1.2-litre engine variant)
- Speed-sensitive door locks
The standard safety equipment across all models includes-
- Central locking
- Front Seat-belt reminder (SBR)
- Door ajar warning
- Rear parking sensors
- Speed alert warning
- ABS with EBD
- Driver-side airbag (front passenger airbag is optional)
The 2019 Maruti Wagon R will launch in four engine and transmission combinations -
- 1.0-litre petrol engine with 5-speed MT
- 1.0-litre petrol engine with 5-speed AMT
- 1.2-litre petrol engine with 5-speed MT
- 1.2-litre petrol engine with 5-speed AMT
Of the above, the 1.0-litre engine option will be available in the LXi, and VXi trims, while the 1.2-litre variant will be offered in the VXi and ZXi grades. The K10B 1.0-litre three-pot petrol engine of the 2019 Maruti Wagon R outputs a maximum power of 67.98 PS at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 90 Nm at 3,500 rpm. On the other hand, the K12M 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine outputs 82.94 PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm at 4,200 rpm. The company's fifth-gen Heartect platform underpins the new model. The lightweight yet robust architecture is serving the Baleno, Swift, Dzire, Ertiga, and Ignis.

The 2019 Maruti Wagon R is expected to go on sale at a starting price of approximately INR 4.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
