Gaadiwaadi reports that the next-gen Suzuki Vitara will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2020. Moreover, it's being said that the new model would grow in dimensions and offer seven seats, which should help it take on the Jeep Compass and the second generation Hyundai Creta.
The current generation Vitara received a mid-life facelift in July this year. The car features various styling updates that work together to inject some freshness into the 4-year old model. On the inside, it gets a new instrument console and a handful of advanced safety technologies, including Dual Sensor Brake Support, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Along with the handful of cosmetic updates, the Suzuki Vitara gained the K10C 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 82 kW (111 PS) and 170 Nm (with 5-speed manual transmission)/160 Nm (with 6-speed automatic transmission). The low-displacement turbo-petrol motor comes as a replacement for the M16 1.6-litre petrol motor, which was introduced back in 2001 and received several updates to meet regulations.
The current-gen Suzuki Vitara is a tad smaller than the Hyundai Creta, but the next-gen model is expected to offer a longer and a wider footprint that will help with the accommodation of the three rows of seats. The second generation of the Hyundai Creta will have seven seats on offer.

It's noteworthy that the rumours of the Suzuki Vitara being India-bound have been doing rounds for five years now. The various sightings of the current-gen Vitara undergoing component testing in our country have added fuel to the fire. The current-gen Vitara won't be introduced in India as it is a product that is nearing the end of its lifecycle. Instead, the next-gen model could be tailor-made to suit the requirements of emerging markets like that of ours.
