Kinetic Motoroyale has revealed to IAB that the Norton Dominator and the Norton Commando will have around 30-40% localisation in India.
The Norton bikes will soon be assembled locally at Motoroyale’s facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. Speaking about the localisation plans for the Norton motorcycles, Mr Ajinkya Firodia, MD, Motoroyale India, said:
“We are localising them. We have made a joint venture, and we are going to localise half of the Nortons that we bring to India. There will be about 30-40 % localisation. We will not touch the engine, shocks and the brakes, but the smaller parts will be localised because right now every part is taken by a British engineer and handmade. We are trying to make it interesting by localising.”
Motoroyale India has launched the limited editions of the Norton Dominator and the Norton Commando, which are specifically designed for India. Only 37 units of the bikes are available, 19 units of the Commando and 18 units of the Dominator. The limited edition models are CBU imports, but their standard variants following later will get locally assembled.
The Norton Commando Limited Edition, priced at INR 20,99,000 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), features a hand-painted ‘Union Jack’ on the fuel tank. The Norton Dominator Limited Edition café racer, on the other hand, features chrome styling on the fuel tank and hand-painted ‘Union Jack’ on the seat cowl.
Both the Norton motorcycles employ a 961 cc air-cooled, parallel twin engine with an oil cooler. The fuel-injected motor is capable of producing a maximum power of 80 PS at 6,500 rpm and developing 90 Nm of peak torque at 5,200 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed transmission.

Suspension duties, on both the Norton bikes, are carried out by 43 mm Ohlins inverted front forks and an Ohlins mono-shock at the rear with a remote reservoir. The rear shocks are adjustable for preload, compression and ride height. Braking power is provided by twin 320 mm rotors up front with Brembo 4-piston ‘Monobloc’ radial callipers, and a single 220 mm rear disc with a 2-piston calliper. ABS is standard.
