Update: U-Car forum member Kooke has shared a spy shot of two 2019 Toyota Corolla Altis prototypes that were spotted in Taiwan.
26 October -
The next-gen Toyota Corolla Altis will have its world premiere at the 2018 Guangzhou Auto Show that opens on 16 November, reports Sina. The hatchback version debuted at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show (March), while the estate version followed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show just last month.
The next-gen Toyota Corolla Altis will wear the striking front fascia as the hatchback and estate versions. The redesigned model will have an experimentive blend of emotive lines, creases and surfaces, along with a lower and wider body, spy shots have conveyed.
At the front, the 2019 Toyota Corolla Altis should have slim, J-shaped bi-beam LED headlamps wrapped deep into the front fenders, lower positioned hood and a large trapezoidal lower grille. On the sides, expect flared wheel arches with edges emphasising the squat and lower centre of gravity. At the rear, the sedan will feature sleeker tail lamps with full-LED lighting. Wheel sizes are expected to be capped at 18-inches.
Inside, the all-new C-segment sedan will have a sleeker dashboard design with a minimalist approach. Minimised gaps between buttons and switches and an electronic parking brake will make the interior more sophisticated. Prime features should include 7-inch TFT MID, Qi wireless charging, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone automatic climate control and eight-way power driver’s seat.
The next-gen Toyota Corolla Altis will ride on the GA-C version of the TNGA platform. The powertrain options will vary from market to market. The U.S. market may get the all-new M20A-FKS 168 hp 2.0-litre Dynamic Force N/A petrol engine and a brand new 180 hp 2.0-litre full-hybrid powertrain. In China, a plug-in hybrid variant will debut along with the standard variant next month. Options in ASEAN markets may differ.
