Tata Motors and its design chief Pratap Bose created a new body style called ‘StyleBack’ with the Tigor. In the future, the company may bring out a Tigor variation along the lines of the Tiago NRG.

Tata Tigor Cross Style Rendering
Tata Motors is open to the idea of a Tigor cross-style, and that would depend on the success of the NRG.

Speaking to IAB last week, Mayank Pareek, President, Tata Motors (PV unit), suggested that the company may consider a cross-style variant of the Tigor after gauging the Tiago NRG’s response. IAB’s automotive illustrator Shoeb has created a rendering to show this derivative.

The Tata Tigor cross-style is painted in the Tata Tiago NRG’s Canyon Orange that is a little darker than Sunburst Orange. It features smoked headlamps like the standard variant, but has no chrome applications, which would defy its 'tough' character. The portion above the grille as well as the ORVMs, door handles, unique 15-inch alloy wheels and roof are in black. Grey skid plates, Squircle-shaped wheel arches and all-around body cladding lend the quintessential 'all-road' look.

The cross-style variant should have an increased ride height and a softer suspension setup. Should the launch take place next year, expect the familiar BSIV-compliant 1.2L petrol and 1.05-litre diesel engines from the standard variant under the hood. Tata Motors may not offer an AMT to ensure that the prices are kept reasonable.

The Tata Tigor's cross-style variant could command a premium of about INR 40,000-50,000 over the Tigor.

If Tata Motors does launch a cross-style variant of the Tigor, it will do so with a new name. NRG is exclusive to the Tiago, Pareek told IAB.
