Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has come up with a new limited edition of the Ignis B1-segment crossover-ish hatchback. Dubbed simply as the Maruti Ignis Limited Edition, the model is based on the Delta trim and is lavished with styling enhancers.
Maruti Suzuki is yet to announce the price of the limited-run model. That said, several publications opine that the Ignis Limited Edition could cost INR 15,000 - 25,000 over the Delta trim. The extras that the new model features are dealer-level fitments and are a part of the official accessories package.
On the outside, the new Maruti Ignis Limited Edition sports side door cladding with 'Ignis' branding, a faux skid plates at front and rear, side skirts with silver moulding, and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. The cabin features a new upholstery. Highlights of the equipment list include a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs, ABS, and airbags.
Mechanically, the Maruti Ignis Limited Edition remains untouched. Powering the Mahindra KUV100 NXT rival is a 1.2-litre K12M petrol engine that outputs a maximum power of 83 bhp and a peak torque of 113 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. The diesel engine variant of the Ignis was discontinued earlier this year owing to low demand.

With an average monthly performance of 4,000 units*, the Maruti Ignis's sales evolution has been impressive given where it started. The Limited Edition should help the country's largest selling car manufacturer (51.7% market share in August 2018), make the crossover-ish hatchback look more convincing to buyers during this year's festive period.
