The current generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport hasn’t even reached India, and a mid-cycle refresh is already in the works. Facebook users WSmobile Chai Wongsa and Choky Detchewa have posted spy shots of the updated model undergoing road testing in Thailand.

The latest Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will arrive in India directly after the facelift.

The current generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport turned three years old last month. With the facelift, it is set to receive tweaked headlamps and tail lamps, new grille and reconfigured bumpers. Most changes are expected at the front, where the designers may implement a more modern interpretation of the Dynamic Shield design concept. Like the facelifted Mitsubishi Triton, one can expect some inspiration from the Mitsubishi Xpander.

Inside, the 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport may get new trim and upholstery, updated MID and improved touchscreen infotainment system. Thai publications report no significant changes here. There’s no word on the mechanical changes either.

Currently, three engine options are available on Mitsubishi's frame SUV: 4D56 2.5-litre diesel (100 kW/324 Nm), 4N15 2.4-litre diesel (133 kW/430 Nm) and 6B31 3.0-litre petrol (161 kW/285 Nm or 154 kW/279 Nm). The 2.5-litre engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The 2.4-litre engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 3.0-litre engine is available with only an 8-speed automatic transmission.

In India, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, like the Outlander, will arrive directly after the facelift, likely in the festive season of 2019. The Indian-spec version will use the 2.4-litre diesel engine mentioned above, upgraded for BSVI emission norms from the get-go, along with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
