It is only a matter of time before BMW unveils a fully-faired motorcycle based on the G310 R. In fact, the German two-wheeler brand gave a glimpse of what to expect from the RR badge version through a concept motorcycle at the BMW Motorrad Days in Japan.

The BMW G310 RR concept was showcased at the BMW Motorrad Days in Japan. As seen in the images, the concept motorcycle uses carbon-fibre bodywork, a racing style saddle and an underseat exhaust.

Similar to the BMW G310R, the concept draws styling cues from the litre-class motorcycle, the S1000RR. It also features carbon-fibre bodywork, but that will be limited to the concept motorcycle. One would recall the TVS Akula 310 Racing Concept from the 2016 Auto Expo for reference.

The headlight stickers on the concept did not feature the typical asymmetric design of the litre-class motorcycle. However, as we have seen through the leaked patent design, the next generation BMW S1000RR itself will drop the asymmetric fascia. Do notice that the fairing continues to feature the asymmetric design with a gill like design on one side and a single cut on the other.

The fuel tank design, the minimal rider saddle, and the under-seat exhaust look extreme but these styling cues will be limited to the concept motorcycle. The production spec motorcycle will most likely feature a side-slung exhaust and a dual seat setup.

Underneath the fancy design is the same chassis that underpins the BMW G310 R and the G310 GS. The sub-frame on the RR badge model, however, will be revised to match the character of the machine. The concept motorcycle also retains the 41 mm upside down telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear.

At the heart of the BMW G310 RR is the same 313 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-valves, DOHC, reverse inclined engine that is also seen on the G310 R and the G310 GS. The engine on the G310 R and G310 GS is tuned for 34 PS of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The performance numbers on the RR model are not likely to be any different than the other G310 variants.

Braking setup, too, looks identical the G310 R and the G310 GS. Thus, stopping power is provided by 300 mm single disc with 4-piston fixed calliper at the front and a 240 mm single disc with single-piston floating calliper at the rear.

The motorcycle does not get the typical BMW asymmetric fascia. It does, however, feature the same asymmetric fairing design from the litre-class model.

The motorcycle is still in the concept phase. We should hear more details about the BMW G310 RR at the 2018 EICMA motorcycle show that is scheduled from November 6 – 11, 2018.
