VW's marketing for the 2018 Volkswagen T-Cross is on four pillars - "I am practical", "I am cool", "I am intuitive" and "I am safe". The German carmaker has released the ''I am cool'' trailer to show its design team working on various aspects of the new model. The world premiere of the T-Cross is at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October.
The 2018 Volkswagen T-Cross will be the five-door, hardtop version of the T-Cross Breeze Concept that made its world debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The VW T-Cross will offer adjustable seats with the second row offering to and fro movement to adjust the luggage space and passenger legroom as per specific requirements.
There’s no denying that the dual-tone interior layout and design of the VW T-Cross is reminiscent of the VW Polo Mk6. To lure music and acoustics aficionados, Volkswagen has equipped the T-Cross with the Beats sound system.
Volkswagen’s increasing focus on digitalisation is visible inside, with the Active Info Display seamlessly merged with the large touchscreen infotainment system. Another interesting detail is what looks like a sleek one-piece air vent below this centrepiece.
Underpinning the Volkswagen T-Cross is the MQB A0 platform from the VW Polo Mk6. It's likely to get the 1.0L TSI, 1.0L TGI, 1.5L TSI Evo and 1.6L TDI engines from the hatchback. Gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, and a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. The 4MOTION AWD system won't be provided on the T-Cross.
The small SUV will have an overall length of 4,107 mm, slotting under the T-Roc. Standard safety features will include a Front Assist ambient traffic monitoring system and Lane Assist lane departure warning system.

Volkswagen has confirmed that the T-Cross will be manufactured in India. That said, the Hyundai Creta rival would be very different from the European version. The Indian car will be underpinned by the highly localized MQB A0 IN platform featuring a longer wheelbase for an increased rear legroom.
Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen India, reveals that the India-spec SUV will not have a CUV design, so expect a design that is rugged and upright. Powering the India-spec Volkswagen T-Cross will be a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that will be manufactured locally.
