Express Drives reports that the launch of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga, which was reportedly scheduled for late-October this year, will come in the second half of November. The second-generation could be positioned as a premium product and retail through the NEXA outlets.

The new Ertiga was the highest selling model for Suzuki Indonesia at the GIIAS 2018, accounting for nearly 29 percent of sales.

The reason for this schedule is said to be the company's inability to deliver the new model against the high number of bookings that will be made during the festive season. Reportedly unwilling to disappoint the buyers, the company will now launch the second generation Ertiga in the second half of November 2018.

In Indonesia, the MPV, riding on the new HEARTECT platform, is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that outputs 104 hp. This is the same K15B motor that has made its Indian debut on the 2018 Maruti Ciaz. It offers a maximum power of 104 hp and a peak torque of 138 Nm. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic. With the manual gearbox, the Ertiga has a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.06 kmpl, while its automatic variant delivers 16.73 kmpl. With assistance coming from the improved SHVS system, expect better mileage figures on the 2018 Maruti Ertiga.

Other than the new petrol engine, the new Ertiga will be available with the 1.3-litre turbocharged D13A engine that powers the existing car. It comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission and outputs a maximum power-torque of 90 PS-200 Nm. Maruti Suzuki will use the Fiat-sourced oil-burner until the advent of the BSVI-compliant Suzuki-developed 1.5-litre diesel engine. The ingeniously developed engine from Suzuki is likely to come mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
