Earlier today, TVS Motor Company launched the TVS Radeon commuter in India with a price tag of INR 48,400 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Speaking to reporters at the launch, KN Radhakrishnan, President & CEO-TVS Motor Company, said there would be variants which will come in the future, pointing out that the launch is the start of the Radeon's journey. In essence, this could mean that the company could launch a disc brake variant or a limited edition in the future (similar to the TVS Victor Premium Edition). Radhakrishnan however did not confirm a disc brake variant.
The TVS Radeon is price positioned between the TVS Star City Plus and the TVS Victor and is designed to address the millennial of middle India. The motorcycle uses a new single-cradle tubular chassis to suspend engine as a stressed member. Essential design elements include a ribbed fuel tank with thigh pads, upright ergonomics, comfortable cushioned seat, and a rear parcel rack. The Radeon gets modern features like USB charging port, LED daytime running lights, side stand indicator, twin-pod speedometer, and electric starter.
The motorcycle will be available for sale across TVS dealerships in India from next month. The motorcycle is offered in four paint schemes - White, Black, Purple, and Beige. It comes equipped with telescopic forks at the front and twin coil-spring shock absorbers at the back.
The TVS Radeon employs a 109.7 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, Dura-Life engine that is capable of producing 8.2 bhp of maximum power at 7,000 rpm while developing 8.7 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle comes with a fuel tank capacity of 10 litres, while it has a claimed fuel efficiency of 69.3 km/l.
The motorcycle has a best-in-segment high ground clearance and long wheelbase along with a 5 years comprehensive warranty. It features 18-inch alloy wheels that wrap with Dura-Grip tubeless tires, while the bike also gets a maintenance-free battery. Anchorage is provided by drum brakes at both the ends with synchronized braking technology (SBT) as standard.
