The Tata Harrier was recently spotted during a downpour on the roads of Pune by The Next Cog group on Facebook. The latest images of the flagship SUV reveal its floating-type touchscreen infotainment system. The setup looks similar to the one on the Nexon, but it's a lot bigger. The Harman-sourced unit will offer Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity technology.

The Tata Harrier will launch in the first quarter of next year and will rival the likes of Jeep Compass. It will become the first Tata model to feature the JLR D8-based OMEGA platform

Other than the details above, spy images detail the all-LED split headlights and taillights. The front-end gets a sharp-looking DRL. The headlamp cluster sits at a lower position. These pictures also reveal the Harrier's LED taillamp.

Earlier this month, IAB's exclusive spy images of the Harrier's interior revealed the SUV's instrument cluster. The console has a monotone lighting and features chrome appliques for the dials. There's a colour Multi-Information Display (MID) and digital semi-circular displays for the fuel gauge and instantaneous fuel consumption. The steering wheel looks similar to the one on all modern Tata models but with a new centre-pad and buttons.

Powering the Tata Harrier SUV will be a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre Multijet II turbo-diesel engine. While this is the same motor that powers the Jeep Compass, it will offer lower power and torque figures. For the Harrier, the motor is likely to output 140 bhp and 350 Nm. On the H7X, which is the 7-seater sibling, the same engine will be tuned to output 167 bhp. The engine will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard while a 6-speed automatic transmission from Hyundai will be optional. Underpinning Tata's flagship will be the new ‘Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced (OMEGA)’ platform, which is based on JLR's D8 platform.
