PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor will display the Ignis Sport concept at the GIIAS 2018 which starts on 2 August. Though the term 'concept' is used, the show car likely previews a new variant on the Ignis with cosmetic modifications, but no changes to the mechanicals.
The image shows a black Ignis with contrasting red skid plate and side stripe and black alloy wheels. The absence of LED projector headlights indicates this to be based off the entry-level 'GL' variant. Suzuki already sells a visually different Ignis in the Indonesian market called the Ignis Sport that adds a black bumper with silver skid plate, rugged side skirts, a rear skid plate and rear spoiler. The Ignis Sport Concept could materialize into another variant that will augment the Ignis range in the archipelago. For reference, the Ignis Sport costs IDR 10 million (INR 47,000) more than the regular Ignis.
All variants of the Ignis in Indonesia are powered by a 1.2-liter four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine that produces 61 kW (83 PS) and 113 Nm of torque. The GL and GX grades come are paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the GX AT has the 5-speed AGS (Auto Gear Shift AMT technology). Indonesia gets its supply of the Ignis from the Indian factory.

Suzuki uses the GIIAS to gauge public response and correspondingly introduces products in the Indonesian market. In last year's show, the Ignis G-Urban concept was shown which materialized into the Ignis Sport.
Maruti Suzuki could be keeping a keen eye on these model derivatives and apply them locally for the festive season or towards the year-end to clear inventory.
