The all-new Suzuki Jimny was confirmed for Australia the same day it was launched in Japan. Earlier this week, Suzuki announced that it would offer this model in Russia as well.
In Australia and Russia, its sales will commence in Q1 2019 (January-March 2019) and Spring 2019 (March-May 2019) respectively.
With a flat clamshell bonnet, (more) upright A-pillars, round headlamps, front grille with five vertical openings, flat roof and a boxy body the Suzuki Jimny retains its heritage of being a traditionally designed UV. All that is in a more upmarket styling now, however. The interior also has a straight and functional design with a minimalist approach. The old-school dashboard design, rotary control knobs and cockpit inspired switches are in line with the character of the UV.
The 2018 Suzuki Jimny measures 3,480 mm (3,645 mm with spare wheel cover) in length, 1,645 mm in width and 1,725 mm in height. It has a 2,250 mm wheelbase and a 210 mm ground clearance. Under the hood, is the K15B 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 75 kW (102 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission/4-speed automatic transmission and the ALLGRIP PRO part-time 4WD system work together to send power to the wheels.
