Hyundai is gearing up to launch a new hatchback in the Indian market around August 2018. As per information shared on Team-BHP, the company recently conducted a customer survey clinic where the Hyundai AH2 aka the 2018 Hyundai Santro was showcased in a near-production state.
On the outside, the hatchback features high set fog lamps placed just under the headlamps and a rear similar to the Grand i10. The rear bumper gets a prominent black insert as well giving it a dual tone look. One of the points mentions that the window line has a Honda Mobilio-like kink towards the rear passenger glass. It gets pull-up type door handles like the i10.
Interior highlights include a Grand i10-like steering wheel with controls for audio and phone, no touchscreen, black and beige finish, seats with fixed headrests, and power window controls placed behind the gear lever. In terms of features, the Hyundai AH2 gets electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators and a rear wiper as well. There is no push button start or a request sensor for keyless entry present.
While the select few who got to see the car had a chance to take it for short spin, the information shared makes no mention of the specifications. However, it does add that Hyundai will offer a factory-fitted CNG kit for taxi market and private car buyers for a premium of INR 50,000 over the regular petrol-only variant.
