As Mitsubishi is now a part of the Renault-Nissan alliance, the Mitsubishi Xpander was expected to spawn the next-gen Nissan Grand Livina from even before its commercial launch. According to a report from Carlist.my, the Xpander-based all-new Nissan Grand Livina is in the works.
The next-gen Nissan Grand Livina will have slightly different styling, as per the report. As the case is with cross-badged models, most visual changes should remain at the front. The all-new Nissan Grand Livina’s front fascia may comprise the signature V-motion upper grille flanked by conventional headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, and differently designed lower air intake, bumper and fog lamps.
Under the hood, the next-gen Nissan Grand Livina may have one of Nissan’s four-cylinder petrol engines instead of the Mitsubishi Xpander’s 1.5-litre MIVEC petrol engine. A 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission may send power to the wheels. Nissan could offer more than one engine, varying as per the market. FWD drivetrain layout is expected as standard, however.

The all-new Nissan Grand Livina’s Malaysian launch will take place only after the Mitsubishi Xpander, sometime between late-2018 and early-2019. Its production will take place at Mitsubishi's new plant in Bekasi Prefecture, Indonesia.
