Hero Electric unveiled a prototype electric scooter and two electric bicycles. The brand will launch them in a phased manner over the course of 2018.
Hero Electric also launched ‘10 Years Ahead’ campaign to mark 10 years of manufacturing electric two wheelers. Over the past decade, Hero Electric has launched 15 electric two-wheelers in India. The brand has a healthy 65% share of the country’s electric two-wheeler market. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Naveen Munjal, Managing Director, Hero Electric said:
We are proud to showcase our new range of electric two-wheelers, which have been especially designed for the aspirational Indian. The AXLHE-20 is a high-speed e-bike that promises the perfect blend of performance and efficiency. On the other hand, A2B Speed and Kuo Boost are premium electric bicycles that cater to upwardly mobile youth who value adventure and fitness.
As per Hero Electric, the three products are a part of the plan to double sales every year over the next five years. In that time period, the company will also add to its current manufacturing capacity by setting up multiple manufacturing plants. The brand’s upcoming electric scooter is code-named AXLHE-20. The high-speed scooter employs a 4,000 Watt motor that produces peak power of 6,000 Watts. The claimed top speed stands at 85 kmph and it has a range of up to 110 kilometres on a single charge. Additionally, it also features regenerative braking for better efficiency. The battery is a lithium-ion unit which has a 0-100% charging time of around 4 hours.
The A2B Speed is a product of A2B, the UK-based electric bicycle-making subsidiary of Hero Electric. It uses a 500 Watt motor and a 36 volt battery. The battery can last for 700 charge-discharge cycles. The range is 70 km, and the top-speed is 45 kmph. The bike uses a lightweight aluminium frame and eight gear Shimano XT rear derailleur transmission. It comes with Tektro Dorado hydraulic disc brakes.
A2B Kuo Boost uses a less powerful 350 watt motor. It has a top speed of 32 kmph, and a 60-km range from its lithium ion battery. The battery can last up to 700 cycles. The electric bicycle is foldable as well, with an eight-speed Shimano Derailleur gearbox. It weighs only 20 kg, thanks to the aluminium frame.
