The brochure scans of the 2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI has been leaked online. The motorcycle now features new graphics and more importantly, a rear disc brake.
The 2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI gets an FZ ‘Shield’ logo on the fuel tank, and the Tuning Fork logo on the tank extensions. The FZ-S logo is present on the tail section. Instead of a rear drum brake, the 2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI comes with a disc unit. The front disc looks the same as the existing one. ABS is still absent.

The 2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI is likely to continue with the same 149 cc single cylinder mill with fuel injection. The SOHC 2-valve engine makes 13.2 PS of power at 8,000 rpm, and 12.8 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The powerplant works in tandem with a 5-speed gearbox. The instrument cluster is all-digital, and gets an Eco indicator lamp as well.

Suspension bits include telescopic front fork, and a monoshock at the rear. The 17-inch alloys are shod with 100-section front and 140-section rear MRF tubeless tyres. In September, Yamaha launched the Dark Night colour variant of the FZ-S FI. The bike costs INR 84,012, while the regular variant costs INR 83,042. Expect the 2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI to command a premium of around INR 3,000 more than the 2017 variant. All prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
In its segment, The FZ-S FI rivals the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, and the Hero Xtreme Sports. Expect more details about the upcoming bike in the weeks ahead. Apart from the 2018 FZ, Yamaha is also planning to launch the R15 v3.0. The bike was spotted at a dealership last month.
