After the VW Tiguan Allspace (LWB version), Volkswagen plans to further expand the second-gen VW Tiguan range with a coupe variant. autopista.es has created a speculative rendering of this car.
The rendered VW Tiguan Coupe is in the R-Line variant, which means that it gets the “R” style bumper and sill extension as with the VW Tiguan R-Line. It suggests that the coupe version would have more strongly sloping roofline and a rakish back glass, which are typical characteristics of a coupe. Volkswagen may use the VW Cross Blue Coupe concept as an inspiration for the more dynamic proportions of the VW Tiguan Coupe. Lowering and widening the Tiguan’s body could further accentuate the sporty styling.
Volkswagen introduced the second-gen VW Tiguan with four TSI petrol and four TDI diesel engines, in displacements ranging from 1.4- to 2.0-litre and outputs ranging from 115 PS to 240 PS. The VW Tiguan Coupe may share most of the high-output engines with the VW Tiguan. Transmission choices may include 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. Availability of the 4MOTION AWD system is a given.
