Mahindra's upcoming MPV, which goes by the Mahindra U321 codename, will be launched in the first quarter of 2018 reports Autocar India. The Toyota Innova rival is currently undergoing extensive real-world testing as evident from the regular inflow of spy pictures.
Autocar's report is accompanied by a digital illustration of the Mahindra U321 based on spy pictures. The MPV will feature a 'toothed' grille, similar to the one that Scorpio received recently as part of a facelift. Black headlamp surrounds, bumper mounted LED pilot lamps, vertically stacked tail lights, and 5-split-spoke alloy wheels are some of the exterior design features. Past sightings have also revealed interior details including the centre console, steering wheel, and instrument console with lavender illumination.
The upcoming Mahindra MPV will become the third monocoque based product developed by the company. It is the first product to be designed and developed by the Mahindra North American Technology Center (MNATC) in Troy, Michigan.
The report also adds that the 1.6 L mFalcon diesel that will power the Mahindra MPV will produce a healthy 130 hp. Currently, there is no information available regarding transmission options or a petrol variant of the U321.
