Less than a day after a report revealed that the new generation Daihatsu Terios will be arriving on November 23, the company has teased the upcoming model via their official website confirming that it will be arriving sooner than anticipated.
The teaser image partially reveals the silhouette of the 2018 Daihatsu Terios along with details like roof rails, shark fin antenna, roof spoiler, and wraparound headlights and tail lights. It bears a very strong resemblance to the Daihatsu FT Concept, which is said to be the design inspiration for the new Terios/Rush. The new model ditches the tailgate-mounted spare wheel and is likely to feature an upward opening hatch.
The cabin and dashboard layout of the new Terios remains a mystery. It is yet to be captured in spy pictures. However, like the exterior, the interior too could draw inspiration from that of the FT Concept.
Currently, the Daihatsu Terios packs a 3 SZ-VE DOHC VVT-i 1.5 L petrol that produces 109 PS and 14.4 kg.m. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Its replacement is expected to come with the same engine.
The 2018 Toyota Rush, which is essentially a rebadged Daihatsu Terios, is also expected to be unveiled along with the new Terios. Estimates place the starting price at around IDR 200 million (INR 964,343). Range-topping variants could cross the IDR 300 million mark (INR 1,446,515).
