Piaggio Vespa RED launched in India at INR 87,009

Piaggio Group has launched the Piaggio Vespa RED edition in India at INR 87,009, ex-showroom, Mumbai.

Vespa has teamed up with (RED) to fight against AIDS in India. (RED) is an organisation founded by U2 band frontman Bono, and activist Bobby Shriver to help fight AIDS. Till date, (RED) has generated more than USD 475 million for the Global Fund to fight AIDS and support HIV/AIDS grants. The Vespa RED edition features exclusive red body colour, 12 inch red alloy wheels and red art leather seats. Bollywood celebrity, Farhan Akhtar presented and owned the first Vespa RED in Mumbai today. The scooter is available for sale at Vespa dealerships across the country.

On every purchase of the Vespa RED, it will trigger a USD 50 (INR 3,274) donation to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in India. The company claims each scooter sold can help provide more than 165 days of HIV medication; which can help save a mother’s life and prevent her from passing the virus to her unborn baby.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Diego Graffi, Managing Director and CEO of Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL) said:

Under the skin of the Vespa RED edition is the Vespa VXL 125. The 125cc 3-valve single cylinder mill makes 10.06 PS at 7,500 rpm and 10.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The engine pairs with a CVT gearbox. The scooter uses a single arm front suspension, and a rear dual-effect hydraulic shock absorber. Brakes include 200 mm front disc and a 140 mm rear drum.
