Honda has taken the wraps off the tenth generation Honda Accord ahead of its launch this fall. Here are live shots of the 2018 Honda Accord from its debut, originally published on Motor Trend.
The Honda Accord adopts a new design direction for its tenth generation. The revamped mid-size sedan comes with sportier proportions. It won’t sell as a coupe per se, and the standard sedan itself incorporates a coupe-esque styling to compensate.
The 2018 Honda Accord measures 192.1 inches (4879.34 mm) in length, 73.2 inch (1859.28 mm) in width and 57.1 inches (1450.34 mm) in height, and has a wheelbase of 111.4 inches (2829.56 mm). On the outside, it gets 9-lamp full-LED headlights, LED fog lights, 19-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. Comfort & convenience features include dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient interior lighting, remote engine start and push-button start.
12-way power adjustable driver’s seat with two position memory, 4-way power lumbar support, ventilation and heating is available. Also optional, is the 8-Inch Display Audio touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 450-watt, 10-speaker audio system with subwoofer.
The 2018 Honda Accord comes equipped with extensive safety and driver assistance technologies. The full suite of Honda Sensing technologies is standard. It includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and new Traffic Sign Recognition. Head-Up Display and Blind Spot Information System are optional.
Honda will sell the U.S.-spec 2018 Honda Accord with 1.5- and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines and the third-gen two-motor hybrid powertrain. The new 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 192 hp and 192 lb.-ft. (260.31 Nm) torque. It pairs to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. The Civic Type-R derived 2.0-litre petrol engine develops 252 hp and 273 lb.-ft. (341.67 Nm). 6-speed manual and 10-speed automatic are the transmission choices for this engine. The 2018 Accord Hybrid gets e-CVT as standard.
