All-new model to launch in the UK too next year.

Mitsubishi will expand the sales of the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport to more markets next year. Previous reports have said that UK launch (as the Mitsubishi Shogun Sport) is also due next year.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, launched in Thailand in 2015, is available in 5-seat and 7-seat seating layouts.

The latest Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is a tough ladder-frame SUV based on the Mitsubishi Triton. The mid-size SUV measures 4,785 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width and 1,800 mm (W/O roof rails)/1,805 mm (with roof rails) in height, has a wheelbase of 2,800 mm and offers a ground clearance of 218 mm. It is available in 5-seat and 7-seat seating layouts.

The right-hand drive Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is available with three engines: 4D56 2.5-litre diesel (2WD/4WD), 4N15 2.4-litre diesel (2WD/4WD) and 6B31 3.0-litre MIVEC petrol (2WD). The Indian-spec 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will have the 4N15 2.4-litre diesel engine under the hood. This is the only engine available that is Euro 4-compliant, and with a 4WD system. It produces 133 kW (178.28 hp) at 3,500 rpm and 430 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm. Power is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission and distributed among them through the Super Select 4WD-II four-wheel drive system. Rear differential lock and limited slip differential are optional, while an electric parking brake is standard in the 4WD model.

The all-new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Isuzu MU-X in India. The current model starts at INR 27.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and the new generation's price would depend on the way it is imported to India. Old reports have said that India will get the all-new Pajero Sport via the CKD route from Thailand, and in that case, a starting price of around INR 25 lakh is possible, which would help Mitsubishi compete well with the arch rivals.
