The Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 will compete with the Harley-Davidson Street 750.

A report in Car and Bike reveals that Royal Enfield CEO Siddhartha Lal has termed his upcoming twin cylinder motorcycle "highway worthy" for countries where highways have a higher speed limit. The bike is expected to be called Royal Enfield Continental GT 750, which Lal did not confirm.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 is expected to get a parallel twin mill and its success is a must for RE to realise its ambitions in the middleweight segment.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 resembles the smaller capacity café racer retailed in India, but gets a bigger frame and twin exhaust layout.

At the investor’s meet this month, Mr Lal called the upcoming motorcycle futuristic. He said:

It will be absolutely highway worthy and therefore it will bring us out of a niche segment in a lot of faster international markets. Even in markets like Brazil and all, where we are going to, which have quicker roads than India, our futuristic motorcycles will help us in being extremely highway-friendly and worthy.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 is expected to get a new twin cradle frame developed by Harris Performance just like the Continental GT 535. The bike will be competing with several European counterparts but will primarily be locking horns with the Harley-Davidson Street 750.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 is expected to be launched in India later this year and is part of Royal Enfield's strategy of one new motorcycle every year until 2018.
