International-spec Creta could borrow cues from the Brazil-spec Creta.

A teaser of the Brazilian-spec Hyundai Creta revealed an exterior styling that looks a bit different from the Creta we are familiar with. IAB's Shoeb R Kalania has enhanced the teaser to give a better look at the styling.

Hyundai Creta facelift front
The Creta for Brazil gets a larger grille, horizontal foglights and a new bumper with a trapezoidal intake.

The front face adopts Hyundai's new “Cascading Grille”, re-designed bumper, smaller horizontal foglamps, while the rear-end features tweaked taillamps, smaller reflectors and a rugged looking bumper. When Hyundai works on a facelift for the Creta, it could borrow cues from the Brazilian example or look identical. The Hyundai Verna facelift was launched in India after it went on sale in Russia, proving that a cosmetic update to a global Hyundai model doesn't necessarily have to be a local exercise.

The Brazilian-spec Hyundai Creta will go into production at the Piracicaba plant in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Reports suggest that it will make its local debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in November and arrive in showrooms in 2017. It will rival the Nissan Kicks, Ford EcoSport, Honda HR-V and the Renault Duster.

It will reportedly pack the Hyundai HB20’s 1.6-litre CVVT flex-fuel engine that produces up to 128 cv (128 hp) and up to 16.5 kgf.m (161.81 Nm) of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, while it is unclear if an AWD system, offered in China, will be extended to the Brazilians.
