The MG GT was displayed at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. The fastback was launched in China in November 2014.
On the outside, the sedan shows off a sleek and modern look that is in line with other MG models. The GT is also based on the same platform that underpins the MG5 hatchback. The face reveals a thin grille and sharp creases on the bonnet. The rear features sleek "UK Flame" connected tail lights, sloping roofline, raised bumper and dual exhausts.
The driver is greeted by a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, dual-pod instrument cluster and aluminum inserts on the steering, door pads, dashboard and gear lever. An infotainment screen can be seen embedded in the dashboard and positioned between the two vertically-placed AC vents.
Providing motive power to the MG GT are 1.5-liter and 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol units that are good for output figures of 129 hp / 210 Nm and 156 hp / 235 Nm, equipped with Start-Stop system. The older 1.5-liter mill can be had with a 6-speed automated manual gearboxe while the newer 1.4-liter engine comes only with a new 7-speed DCT.
