Volkswagen has showcased the 2016 Caddy Alltrack at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The van is the successor to the Cross Caddy and is available in the regular and Caddy Kasten (closed) van formats.
The Alltrack version features black- wheel arch trims, side skirts and lower bumper edges that contrast well with the body coloured elements such as bumpers, side strips and door handles. Some other visual differentiators are chrome fins on the radiator grille, fog lights, smoked tail light clusters, silver roof rails and Alltrack logos at the front and rear.
The Alltrack treatment continues on the inside with the passenger version getting special 7Summits seat covers (panel vans get pillion fabric covers) and folding tables on the front seatbacks. Other features, available are adjustable center armrest, aluminium-look pedals, Alltrack floor mats with Muscat-colour stitching and Carbon Square Dark cockpit decor.
There is a chrome package that adds more shine to the rotary light switch, mirror adjustment / power window switches, and handbrake lever button. Both vehicle variants feature a leather package as well which covers the steering wheel, handbrake lever and gear lever boot with Muscat-colour stitching.
The petrol engine powering the Caddy are a 1.0-liter, 1.2-liter or 1.4-liter units with outputs ranging from 84 to 125 PS. The diesel engine is a 2.0-liter TDI block that comes in three tunes ranging from 75 to 150 PS. There is a wide variety of gearbox choices depending on the variant, the options are 5-speed and 6-speed manual or the 6-speed and 7-speed DSG gearboxes. Front-wheel drive comes standard across the range while VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system is optional.
The Caddy Alltrack passenger variant gets many standard features such as manual air conditioning, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, daytime running lights with automatic switching, intermittent wiper function, rain sensor, a speed limiter and Composition Colour radio with 5-inch touchscreen.
Starting price for the new Caddy is EUR 16,485 (INR 12,36,775 net) for the Kasten variant and Euros 20,470 (INR 15,35,747 net) for the passenger car version. Deliveries of the new Alltrack in the European markets is expected by end of this year.
