Gets a power boost of 10 PS to a total 220 PS (162 kW).
Volkswagen has officially revealed online the VW Scirocco GTS facelift, which is scheduled for a global debut at Auto Shanghai 2015 next week. The facelifted GTS version is long awaited ever since the Scirocco sports coupe was refreshed last year.
The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine of the out-going Scirocco now churns out 220 PS (162 kW) - an addition of 10 PS of power comparing to the earlier model - similar to the current Golf GTI. The powertrain is paired to a standard 6-speed manual or an optional 6-speed DSG gearbox.
The sporty variant of the compact coupe is claimed to hit 0-100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 244 km/h (246 km/h with manual transmission).
The new GTS exteriors are based on the Scirocco R-line trim kit with custom bumpers, side sills, roof spoiler, and rear diffuser. In addition, the GTS gets 18-inch Norwich alloys and optional 19-inch Lugano wheels to match the red brake calipers of the car, and a pair of red or black stripe decals across hood and roof.
Following the Golf GTI, the Scirocco GTS also gets interiors in black with added red accents. The GTS badges are all over sills, steering wheel and the seats. The car also sports a red accents on gearlever enclosure, handbrake lever, arm rests, floor mats, steering wheel, and seat belts. Other unique features are Composition Colour infotainment system, stainless steel pedals, and ‘golf ball’ gear knob (on the manual).
To invoke a retro feel, the side mirror caps are black in colour reminding the immortal 1982 Scirocco GTS. Sporty GTS decal paint schemes - Flash Red, Pure White, Oryx White, Urano Grey, Indium Grey and Deep Black - are also offered. Buyers can also choose options like black Vienna leather upholstery, multi-function steering wheel, bi-xenon headlights, and panoramic tilt sunroof for an extra price.
