Already on sale in Thailand and Australia.
Following spyshots of the 2016 Toyota SW4 (or Toyota Fortuner in other markets) from Argentina, dealers in Brazil have confirmed to Auto Esporte that the new SUV will arrive in showrooms in late February or early-March 2016.
The design changes will be identical to the Thai-spec Toyota Fortuner that’s on sale. The new SW4 measures 4,795 mm long (90 mm longer than the outgoing model) but has the same wheelbase of 2,750 mm. It gets sleek projector headlights with LED daytime running lamps and LED taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, shark fin antenna, ORVM-integrated turn signals, and an electric tailgate.
The interior comes with leather upholstery, and features a new multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel, TFT-screen for MID in the new instrument cluster, 8-way electric driver’s seat, 7-inch touchscreen entertainment system with DVD/CD/MP3/Radio/USB/AUX-in/Bluetooth and Navigation, chilled glovebox, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable door mirrors with power folding function, engine Start/Stop button paired with Smart Key entry, and cruise control.
Based on a re-inforced ladder frame platform, power is sourced from an all new 2.8-liter GD turbodiesel engine that produces 177 hp. Torque figure varies with the transmission choice; 420 Nm with a six-speed manual gearbox and 450 Nm with a six-speed automatic.
