Should start at around INR 25 lakh.
As Skoda India continues testing the third generation Skoda Superb, the company has uploaded a video on the official website which reveals the interior and exterior of the car, although in the LHD configuration. The market launch of the all-new model is expected to happen in the coming months.
The third generation Skoda Superb is based on the Volkswagen Group's same MQB (Modularer Querbaukasten or Modular Transverse Toolkit) platform as the eighth generation VW Passat which is its more premium cousin. The all-new model, first unveiled in Prague, Czech Republic last year, is up to 75 kg lighter and was announced with five TSI petrol and three TDI diesel engines initially.
In Europe, engines with displacements as small as 1.4-litre (petrol)/1.6-litre (diesel) are offered, but in India, only either of the 1.8-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder and 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engines, and the 2.0-litre TDI turbocharged four-cylinder diesel, will be offered.
Like with the currently sold model, both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive layouts should be listed. Transmission options will include the 6-speed DSG automatic and 7-speed DSG automatic, and perhaps a 6-speed manual.

The 2016 Skoda Superb is expected with many premium features like bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate, Volkswagen Group's MIB technology (Modularer Infotainment-Baukasten)-based infotainment system with satellite navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and Canton sound system.
Continuing with the outgoing model's CKD assembly strategy, the 2016 Skoda Superb should be aggressively priced from around INR 25 lakh in India.
