One of Proton's two new upcoming sedans this year.
After teasing the car in the company’s Safety 360 initiative video last week, Proton has now released a new teaser image of the 2016 Proton Persona saying the next-gen model is "coming soon".
The new teaser image reveals the 2016 Proton Persona's front fascia. However, the exterior hasn't been a mystery since long, thanks to the undisguised spyshots captured during the car's promotional shoot in May. The all-new Proton Persona is based on the Proton Iriz, and that's quite evident with the exterior resemblance.
The 2016 Proton Persona should be launched with the Proton Iriz's 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre VVT four-cylinder petrol engines. The 1.3-litre engine produces 70 kW (93.83 hp) at 5,750 rpm and 120 Nm at 4,000 rpm, and the 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine delivers 80 kW (107.23 hp) at 5,750 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The new 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre GDI/TGDI engines developed with Petronas could be offered from late-2017 in place of or in addition to one or both these engines.
