Will move closer to the A-segment.
Proton is working on the next-gen Proton Saga and will launch it later this year. Based on spyshots, a rendering by IAB's digital artist Shoeb Kalania previews how the rear-end of the next-gen Proton Saga will look like. The current model is a low-cost B-segment car, but the next-gen model will be closer to the A-segment. Reports say that this move is a step to prevent cannibalisation of the Proton Persona's sales.

The 2016 Proton Saga will be a sub-compact model rivaling the Honda Brio Amaze, Ford Figo sedan and Suzuki Swift Dzire. The word out there is that the next-gen Proton Saga may be powered by the Proton Iriz' 1.3-litre VVT engine. This engine should be offered with 5-speed manual transmission and continuously variable transmission choices.
The new 1.0- and 1.2-litre three cylinder engines announced earlier this year will be offered in the next-gen Saga from a later stage.
