Bookings expected to start in December.
According to a report on the Hindu BusinessLine, the 2016 Ford Endeavour will have its Indian launch in mid-January 2016, prior to the 2016 Auto Expo. Indian Autos Blog understands from dealer-level sources that bookings for the new Endeavour will commence in December 2015.
Mr. Nigel Harris, President and Managing Director of Ford India, told Indian Autos Blog earlier that the new Endeavour would be previewed in the country this year, though its market launch is slated for 2016.
For the Indian market, the 2016 Ford Endeavour would be offered with a choice of two diesel engines: a 2.2-liter four-cylinder producing 148 bhp and a 3.2-liter five-cylinder TDCi engine capable of 197 bhp. While the five-cylinder unit will be paired only to a 6-speed automatic transmission, the 2.2-liter engine would get a 6-speed manual in addition to an automatic.
Aside from dual front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, EBD, Hill Hold and traction control, the 2016 Endeavour will offer Ford's SYNC2 multimedia entertainment system with voice commands, an electric tailgate, electric folding of third row seat backs and leather upholstery.

For the Indian market, the 2016 Ford Endeavour will be assembled from Thai-made CKD kits, at Ford India's Chennai plant. It will rival the Toyota Fortuner, which continues to be the segment leader, and other SUVs like the Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Ssangyong Rexton.
