The next generation flagship SUV from Ford India is expected to launch in early 2016, and will be the first product from the company in 2016. Bookings for the new Endeavour are likely to open sometime next month. Currently, dealers are awaiting Ford India's approval to accept pre-orders.
The Ranger-based SUV will be launched in India as a CKD model, which is currently assembled at Ford's plant in Chennai. The engine lineup will include two diesel engines: a 148 bhp 2.2-litre four-cylinder TDCI mill and a 197 bhp 3.2-litre five-cylinder TDCI diesel engine. The former is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, while the latter is only fitted with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. A 4WD system with Terrain management is also offered in the India-spec model on the manual gearbox variant, as seen in spyshots.
