2.0L TDI reportedly getting a 6MT in addition to 7DCT.
According to a report on Autocar India, the 2016 Audi A4 will have its Indian launch sometime in August this year. Audi India is reportedly bringing the launch date forward as stock of the outgoing A4 is selling out faster than anticipated.
For the Indian market, the staple variant of the 2016 A4 will be powered by the 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI diesel engine, although Audi could launch an entry-level 6-speed manual transmission with this engine in addition to a 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox. The manual variant will target corporate buyers primarily.
With negative sentiments surrounding large diesel engines, Audi will also launch the 2016 A4 in a petrol variant. The petrol engine range, interestingly, could include the 1.4-liter TFSI apart from a more powerful 2.0-liter TFSI unit.
