Design inspired by Audi Prologue concept.
Autobild has released a new render of the next generation Audi A6, which is expected to launch in 2017. According to reports, the design of the A6 will influence bigger next gen models such as the Audi A7 and Audi A8.
The render draws heavy inspiration from the Audi Prologue concept, featuring a wide hexagonal Singleframe grille, angular headlights with LED DRLs, and a contoured bonnet. The side profile remains simple with strong character lines, while the rear end gets OLED taillamps, moulded spoiler and dual exhaust tips.
The next gen Audi A6 will have external dimensions similar to the current model, but offer more luggage capacity and occupant space. It will be based on the second generation MLB platform, and have a longer wheelbase, wider track and shorter overhangs. With the new platform, the body is expected to be considerably lighter than the current A6.

Engines for the next A6 are likely to be revised versions of the current four cylinder TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines, with outputs similar to the 2016 Audi A4. Top-of-the-line variants may get high output 3.0-liter V6 and 4.0-liter V8 turbocharged engines.
