Gets ABS with EBD and dual airbags as standard features.
The Maruti Baleno was launched in India at a starting price of INR 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). It is in direct competition to the premium hatchbacks of the B-segment, like the Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz.
The Maruti Baleno is powered by the engines used in the Maruti Swift - the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel motor. The former produces 84.3 PS of maximum power and 115 Nm of peak torque, and gets two transmission options - a CVT and a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel version is rated at 75 PS and 190 Nm, and is offered only with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Baleno petrol returns an ARAI certified mileage of 21.4 km/l, while the Baleno diesel delivers 27.39 km/l.
The Baleno is offered with ABS with EBD and dual airbags (front) in all the variants. Other standard features on the company's first premium hatchback are pretensioner and force-limiter on front seat belts, driver side seat belt reminder, anti-theft security system, dual horn, central locking, front power windows, tilt steering, and an accessory socket (12V power port) at the front and rear.
